Minor Surgery and other mishaps

So, my day (Saturday) started off with a "BANG", so to speak. Around 6:30 a.m. I had gotten up to go to the bathroom and I heard the "bang" followed by "thump, thump, thump, thump, thump". Now either I have an extremely large mouse in my house, or someone is up running around. Reasonable deduction tells me it is Jacob, and "Presto" I open the bathroom door into my bedroom and see these beady eyes staring back at me through the dark. . . yes, it is Jacob, who has somehow managed to open his door (I didn't think he could) and found his way in the darkness to my room and into my bed. I am greeted with a "hi, mommy" that is so sweet and so cheery that I can't be upset. What a kid. Unfortunately, he woke up Johnathan and John and it was just way too early, but there were all awake. So much for sleeping in. I was greeted with a repeat performance on Sunday morning, but I think John forgot to shut Jacob's door that night, so no big surprise on how he got out and over to us.

We were cleaning and working around the house like crazy this weekend. We are having an appraisal done this week so we can finally get our trees cut down (hooray!) I won't even begin to tell you the cost of having these monstrous trees removed, but at this point I'm willing to pay most anything for some peace of mind. I'm ever-fearful that I'll wake up one day with an Oak tree in my lap. . . unfortunately, with the size of these trees I'm pretty sure it (the tree) would wipe out my lap, so it'll be a relief when they are gone.

Monday morning Jacob was not so happy. I found a splinter in the palm of his right hand. John and I tried to corral him and dig it out with tweezers, but no such luck. And Daddy is a real pushover, so he just said to "let it go and it'll work it's way out". So, off to daycare we go where I found a real "man", um, woman as the case may be to help me hog tie my child so we can remove the splinter. Oddly enough, and as children often do, he made a complete liar out of me. He sat perfectly still on my lap while the daycare director and I worked with the tweezers and needle and "Poof" it came out in nothing flat. And not one tear shed. Wonder if I can get this lady to come over to my house each night for "teeth brushing/face washing/hair combing" activities?

So that's the last three days. . . now if the Blogger will start cooperating I'll get some more pictures posted. It's been slower than molasses in January trying to load pictures, so I gave up.
